For the past year and a half or so, I have been planning, re-thinking, and dabbling about how I want to restrategize and change my branding for Michelle Nicole Photography. I felt like I was growing out of my <3 mn light purple and royal purple logo, a logo I put together myself when I was in my early twenties that includes my favorite colors. Being that it was the face of Michelle Nicole Photography for seven years, it has a lot of sentimental value to it. It was my heart, my love, my sweat, tears, my baby, and my journey.
I literally spent HOURS searching for what I wanted to do and how to change things – I even drafted up a new logo idea and shared it with a few friends asking for their opinion, and got on FaceTime with my boyfriend’s sister to help me out with the fluidity of this “new logo”. I was so excited and I loved it, and wanted to fine tune it to make it work. After getting back on Facebook, we were surprised to find another “Michelle Nicole Photography” out there in the US and had basically a logo similar to my last ten hours of work! Damn, she came up with that idea already. And damn, another Michelle Nicole Photography? I guess your parents thought the same thing as my parents 😀 So anyway, I scratched that.
I wasn’t sure what I wanted yet and what really suited my brand. I absolutely love calligraphy, it’s the “in” thing right now but mostly with fine art film photography (which isn’t really my style), but I also thought I could go more minimalistic, simple, and clean. I also had choices of which websites to go with – I’m currently on WordPress, but I looked at Squarespace, Showit, and the list goes on. Being that I just got back from Las Vegas, Hawaii, and LA, I had a lot of editing piled up and it got realllyyyyyy busy. I thought, maybe I should just hire someone to help me come up with a mood board, rebrand, and build my website and get something I really want. To start shopping, I’ve been following a ton of graphic designers on Instagram (oh – btw! as a customer, I have found so much value in finding companies on IG, as I actually use that as my search engine too. Sidenote/huge tangent – Brides, how do you find your vendors? Sorry, ADD kicking in.) but oh man, as I started to think about it, it was quite an investment that I was not ready to swallow. So back to the drawing board.
Feeling stumped and defeated, two nights ago I found something really incredible. I found a theme I loved, purchased it, and decided that I could either pull an all nighter trying to redesign my website, or start fresh in the morning. As a creative, our sleep schedules can definitely go astray, so I decided to begin the building process in the morning (yesterday AM). After 12 hours of work, it is here!! There are still some kinks that need to be worked out, and a little bit of content to be added, but I have finally done it! With all my most recent, favorite, and updated imagery for what I love, I present to you the new look and feel for Michelle Nicole Photography. Enjoy!
xoxo ❤, mn
